Hillel Table, UC Concourse

Immediately after we return from Spring Break, we will be tabling to collect non-perishable food items and clothing that is in good condition to donate to Abby’s House, a local shelter and multipurpose agency that serves homeless women and children and those who are at risk of homelessness or who have recently been homeless. You can bring items to our table during regular tabling hours (M-W 11:30am-1:30pm & 5pm-7pm) or you can drop them off in the Hillel office all week.

No prior experience, religious affiliation, or Hebrew literacy required.

Each week after dinner those who would like to can participate in the birkat hamazon (a prayer offering thanks for the food) and/or a spirited sing along of Z'mirot (Sabbath evening songs).

-Grape juice, challah (braided ritual bread), and garlic dip

Rabbi Bernie Rotman will be leading a workshop about the order, structure, choreography, tunes, and meaning of the traditional egalitarian kabbalat Shabbat and erev Shabbat services. The program is open to anyone who wants to learn, whether this is a service that they have ever or would ever attend or not, whether they are Jewish or a student or not. It is especially for anyone who would like to try his or her hand at leading or co-leading this or any other service.
